NASA JPL: Robotic Arm System
Project Type
Professional Experience
Date
Sept 2022 - Dec 2022
Location
La CaƱada Flintridge
Technical Skills
CAD (Siemens NX): For designing robotic components, end effectors, and testbed systems
Finite Element Analysis: For assessing structural integrity under testing of end effector designs
Actuator Systems: For assembling actuators for the development of new robotic arm testbeds
Python & Linux: For scripting data collection and inventory automation
"Soft" Skills
Cross-Communication: Effectively coordinated with and explained the results of robotic arm testing to teams of electrical, mechanical, and software engineers
Initiative: Took initiative during robotic testing downtime by volunteering for additional tasks outside of the direct scope of work, contributing to overall team progress
Please Note
Due to NDA and ITAR restrictions, I am limited in the technical details and photos of my work that I can disclose - the content below utilizes approved and publicly available content to reflect the work I took part in while remaining compliant with said restrictions.

During my co-op at NASA JPL, I was responsible for supporting the design, development, and testing of robotic arm systems for the Mars Sample Return mission. You can see what portion of the mission the team I worked was focused on by clicking on the video linked to "MSR" on the left.
My contributions focused on building key components for 6 DOF (Degrees of Freedom) robotic arm testbeds and enhancing system performance through design and testing iterations. I collaborated with cross-functional teams, focusing on integrating sensors, improving end effector functionality, and evaluating robotic arm performance under real-world conditions.
